Hospitals working with the EPD (electronic patient dossiers) HiX are not required to pay any use and maintenance licence for the first 6 months for integrated video calls from HiX with Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft and ChipSoft have joined forces and made this integration available to hospitals so that they can continue regular care as much as possible during the coronavirus. Interested? You can get in touch with info@chipsoft.com.

By offering video calls as an integrated component of the EPD, hospitals are now able to conduct consultations online, for which patients would normally have to come into the hospital. This makes a big difference to patients' movements, which are currently undesirable due to the risk of infection.

Care at a distance

With the integration of Microsoft Teams in HiX, the healthcare provider has the option of treating his or her patient at a distance. The healthcare provider opens the video consultation from the appointment calendar in HiX, while the patient logs in from the patient portal. In this way, a secure connection is established. Thanks to the integration, the relevant patient information and registration options are immediately available to the healthcare provider.

Close collaboration

George van Dijk, Team Leader of Research & Development at ChipSoft: "As Microsoft's ISV partner, we have a long history of integrating Microsoft communication products into our EPD. Integration with Teams originated in the integration with one of the first products, OCS2007 (Office Communication Server), and was further developed through Skype for Business up to the current integration with Microsoft Teams. During this development, there has been a close collaboration between the developers at ChipSoft and the Microsoft Teams product team."

Robin van Setten, Healthcare Lead at Microsoft Nederland: "It is fantastic to see that the integration of Microsoft Teams and HiX makes sure that we are able to offer secure and qualitative virtual consultations at this time. This integration offers a high-quality and personal experience for doctors and patients and at the same time ensures that we are significantly reducing the risk of infection for both parties.

Lasting solution

Hospitals have a lasting solution in video consultations with Microsoft Teams, one which contributes to optimising the logistical processes in the hospital. They see fewer patients in hospital, and furthermore, the technology behind video consults empowers doctors to deliberate with doctors within the healthcare facility and outside it.

Face-to-face contact

One of the benefits of the video consultation compared to consultation over the phone is that doctors can actually see their patients. This makes for a more accurate assessment of the physical and mental state of the patient. Patients also value this face-to-face contact. In addition, this integration ensures for a more convenient way to expense costs.

Available in HiX 6.1 and HiX 6.2

Microsoft Teams is available for all HiX hospitals that work with HiX version 6.1 or 6.2, even if these hospitals are not already integrated with this Microsoft solution. For healthcare facilities that do not want to use Microsoft Teams, there are also options to incorporate solutions from other providers.
